We hope you will find details of our activities of some interest. If you have an interest in any aspect of model engineering or railways then please feel free to come along and see what we are up to.
The West Huntspill Model Engineering Societies club buildings and track could be one of Somerset's best kept secrets. Tucked away in the corner of the War Memorial Playing Field in the Somerset village of West Huntspill, the club has a thriving membership of over forty members and apart from a series of talks given over the winter months by members and visiting talkers, the club offers rides to the public during the summer months.
The raised track provides a pleasant and screened run through mature shrubs and bushes for 3 ½ "and 5" locomotives for a distance of approximately 250 meters.
The station used to pick up and drop off passengers is an ex Somerset and Dorset halt building from Evercreech New, and the WHMES often refers to its self as the Somerset and Dorset Memorial Railway, not only because of its utilisation of former S&D materials but also the links made with the S&D by founder member of the club.
